EDMONTON — Attention foodies: three popular Edmonton restaurants are about to be showcased in the national spotlight.

Rostizado, MEAT and Battista’s Calzone Company will all be featured on the Food Network’s ‘You Gotta Eat Here!

Crews from ‘You Gotta Eat Here!’ which showcases must-visit joints and drool-worthy dishes, have been in Edmonton for the past week. On Wednesday, they were filming at Rostizado, a Mexican eatery and bar located at 103 Avenue and 104 Street.

“We’re here at Rostizado, which is just pretty amazing,” said John Catucci, the host of the show. “I’ve never had Mexican-style rotisserie chicken before … so it’s been really cool.”

Catucci and his crew have already filmed at MEAT and Battista’s Calzone Company. The foodie had nothing but good things to say about both restaurants, adding the brisket sandwich at Meat is one of the best dishes he’s had in Edmonton.

“They do barbecue really well there. They don’t slather it with a whole bunch of sauces. You can have the sauces on the side and do it yourself. But their brisket sandwich is just crazy,” said Catucci.

As for Battista’s Calzone Company, located at 118 Avenue and 84 Street, Catucci was very impressed by the Giovanna calzone and the hospitality.

“Battista is a really sweet man and he just brought us into his family and fed us and kept feeding us until we begged him to stop.”

This isn’t the first time Edmonton eateries have been showcased on the popular Food Network program. The Highlevel Diner, The Sugarbowl Bar & Café and Tres Carnales have all been featured on the show.

Catucci says they always have a great time in the Capital City.

“It’s great coming to a big city like Edmonton because it is multi-cultural and you get food from all over the world. So that’s pretty cool,” said Catucci. “I think it’s just the innovative and new things that keep happening.

“And I heard Connor McDavid is coming here,” he added with a laugh.
