CSIS website down after cyberattack

Canada’s security and intelligence network appears to have been hacked Monday night.

A search for CSIS on major search engines like Google and Yahoo! showed results for Viagra, cold sore medication and Tadalafil, a drug used under the name Cialis.

The CSIS website was also down showing a message that the website was unavailable.

Sources told CTV’s Mercedes Stephenson that a rogue hacker was trying to draw attention to the case of an Ottawa teen who was charged in an alleged “swatting” incident. The person had been connected to hacking group Anonymous, but appeared to be operating alone in this instance, sources said.

A Twitter account under the name TWITRis4tards claimed responsibility for the attack.

Less than two weeks ago, several government websites, including ServiceCanada.gc.ca and Parl.gc.ca, were also hit by cyberattacks. Anonymous claimed responsibility in those attacks.
