Kraft Dinner Dominoes brings in donations

WATCH: A student from Champion wanted to turn his school gymnasium into a massive dominoes display with Kraft Dinner boxes then donate them to the food bank. As word spread donations poured in from as far away as Saudi Arabia! Quinn Campbell reports.

CHAMPION, Alta. – It’s a game that has been around for centuries, but one boy has a different idea of how it should be played.

“It was just fun to set it up and it’s probably going to be really fun to knock it down, but the best part about this is that it’s going to help people,” said Cale Warren.

He thought of using the iconic blue and orange boxes of Kraft Dinner to create a one-of-a-kind dominoes experience with more than one goal in mind. His mom, Michelle, could not be more proud.

The Grade 5 student from Champion School decided to put a fun spin on fundraising.

He’s asked community members to donate boxes for his “KD” project, donating the cheesy pasta to local food banks.

His principal, Greg Rollingson, said the eager young boy took on the project all on his own.

“His perspective on this whole thing has been very mature for an 11-year-old, he knows that helping people is the key of what he wants to do today,” said Rollingson.

Cale was cool as a cucumber leading up to the big reveal, not fazed by the pressure of putting on a show.

“If it doesn’t work, it’s still fine because it’s still going to be donated to people and that’s the main thing.”

One box at a time, the crowd was dazzled by the racing boxes.

There were a few “stalls” in the knock down but it was a huge success.

He ended up blowing his goal out of the water. He was hoping for 1,500 boxes of Kraft Dinner, but in the end he managed to get 3,084.

From start to finish, Cale never lost sight of his end goal: giving to those who need it most.
