TIMELAPSE: Thunderstorm sweeps through Winnipeg Wednesday afternoon

WINNIPEG — The city was hit by a severe thunderstorm system late Wednesday afternoon.

Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch just before 3 p.m. saying conditions were favourable for a severe thunderstorm to develop. Environment Canada warned that the storm could bring severe wind gusts, hail and torrential rainfall.

The watch was ended at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday after an intense system swept through Winnipeg.

Isolated thunderstorms earlier this afternoon produced nickel-sized hail near Amaranth, Manitoba.
