TORONTO – The York Regional Police Homicide Unit is now investigating the disappearance of Sina Parsi, calling the circumstances “less than normal.”

“There are no new leads other than what we already know; the fact that his vehicle was discovered abandoned and a wallet that belonged to him was found nearby,” said Det.-Sgt. Jim Killby.

“In cases with missing persons in York Region, when there is circumstances that are less than normal in terms of a missing persons case, generally the homicide unit unit assists with the investigation and that’s why we have been called.”

He was last seen on Tuesday at about 11:20 p.m. leaving a soccer game in the area of Teston Rd. and Highway 400.

“Until something different develops with us, we’ll continue investigating it as if this was a missing person and hope that anybody phones in,” Killby said.

“To this point we haven’t received any tips that points us in a direction that assists us with this investigation.”

Investigators believe Pardi does not have his cell phone or wallet, and has not had any contact with friends or family since he went missing.

They say friends and family are becoming increasingly concerned for his safety and are hoping the public can help them find him.

Police will be conducting a search in the parks in the Jane St. and Eglinton Ave. area and are telling residents to expect a heavy police presence there while the searches are underway.

Parsi’s 2012 black Dodge Ram pick-up truck was found Thursday June 11 at 1:15 a.m. in a parking lot near Jane St. and Alliance Ave.

While they found his car, they have not been able to locate Parsi.

Parsi is described as a Middle Eastern male with a tan complexion, standing 5’6″, with a slim build and short black hair.
