Astronaut shows how to make a taco in space

WATCH ABOVE: The European Space Agency asked astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti to show us how she manages to cook one of her bonus food recipes in microgravity.

TORONTO – Who needs to run for the border when you can leave the atmosphere for some yummy tacos?

European Space Agency astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti is the star of a trending YouTube timelapse video that shows the process she takes to build her taco inside the International Space Station. At the time of this writing the video has been viewed nearly 70,000 times since it was published Thursday.

Futura mission‘s Cristoforetti begins by spreading leek cream across a floating tortilla, followed by pieces of mackerel and dried tomatoes. The meal is something called “bonus food” to astronauts: food of their choice that reminds them of home-cooked meals, according to the ESA.
