WINNIPEG – An 11 year old Winnipeg girl desperately in need of a liver is in Toronto for a potential transplant.

Allexis Siebrecht has been battling a rare liver disease since she was three months old.

Her mom got a call late Saturday night that a liver was available. Within an hour the pair were at the airport and boarding an air ambulance to Toronto.

“We are keeping calm and just waiting patiently until things start rolling more,” said Liz Siebrecht, Allexis’ mom.

She says the surgery has been delayed.

“Now she will be having surgery possibly late tonight (Sunday) or the early morning hours,” said Siebrecht, who knows there is still a chance the liver won’t be a match for her daughter.
