WATCH: Reaction of girl with Down syndrome getting into cheer team goes viral

Lacey Parker is a happy, carefree 10-year-old from Los Angeles who also happens to have Down syndrome.

One of her dreams was to follow in her big sisters’ footsteps and be on the cheerleading squad at North DeSoto Middle School in Stonewall, L.A.

Lacey’s mother Renee Parker decided to film her when she broke the news to Lacey that she had made the cheer team.

“I made it! I made it!” she says as she dances and jumps for joy.

The girl’s ecstatic response and infectious glee has grabbed the attention of viewers and gone viral.

Posted on Facebook in early May, the video already has nearly four million views.

“It’s amazing that one little girl has touched so many people by achieving her dream,” Renee told CBS affiliate WBTV. “It’s so funny because it’s just one little girl and one little video.”

According to Renee, Lacey has always been an active girl that just wanted to be like everyone else.

“Down syndrome is a label. It’s not who she is,” she said. “She’s an amazing little girl who strives to do whatever she wants to do.”

And Lacey has a message to all those who she has inspired.

“Thank you for all your comments on my video.”
