Regina – One of the two teenagers charged with first degree murder in the death of 16-year-old Hannah Leflar has requested to be released on bail.
The accused, who cannot be named because of his age, appeared via closed circuit television in youth court this morning.
His lawyer applied for a bail report, which will be made public when court convenes on May 21st.
In response to the news, Hannah’s mother, Janet Leflar, contacted media outlets expressing her outrage.
She started a petition against his release.
“The general public should be made aware of the danger our courts are potentially putting you and your children in,” she writes.
The petition went live Thursday morning and gained thousands of signatures within hours.
