WINNIPEG — Mon Ami Louis, a new WOW Hospitality restaurant/cafe, is being recommended to take over the vacant space on Esplanade Riel.

The city of Winnipeg received eight submissions from possible tenants for the area but WOW Hospitality’s was considered the best for the city.

If approved, Mon Ami Louis would open mid-July of this year for brunch, lunch and dinner. It would operate as a restaurant for the summer months, and as an event centre for the winter. The plan will be considered by the Standing Policy Committee for Downtown Development, Heritage and Riverbank Management on May 7.

The Esplanade Riel space was occupied in the past by Salisbury House and Chez Sophie. The latter had to close down after two years because their revenues were not enough to cover operating expenses.
