SICAMOUS — A fatal motorcycle collision on Highway 97A about one kilometre south of Sicamous has claimed the life of a 52-year-old Malakwa man. Corporal Mike Wasylenki says it happened shortly after 7 p.m. on Thursday.
“The investigation to date has revealed two motorcycles were travelling together north-bound on Highway 97A towards Sicamous,” explains Wasylenki.
He adds one of the motorcycles veered off the road to the right and struck a rock face. The driver of the 2006 Harley Davidson ended up in the south-bound lane of the highway where a passing motorist stopped to help.
“As the motorist was assisting by calling 9-1-1 and flagging others to stop the second motorcyclist returned to the scene briefly and departed in a distraught emotional state,” says Wasylenki.
The investigation into the cause of the collision and specifics surrounding it continue to be investigated.
