TREHERNE, Man. – A Saskatchewan RCMP officer is accused of driving impaired on a Manitoba highway.
Mounties say a man was pulled over early April 3 for speeding on Highway 2 in Treherne, about 130 kilometres west of Winnipeg.
They say he showed signs of consuming alcohol and was taken to the Portage la Prairie detachment to test his blood-alcohol level.
A check of his background revealed the driver is a 43-year-old officer from Shaunavon, Sask.
David Collings is facing a number of charges, including impaired operation of a motor vehicle and driving while over the legal blood-alcohol limit.
Collings, who is currently on administrative duty, will appear in a Portage la Prairie courtroom on May 11.
