If you want to escape the cold this week, head to Dalhousie University for the musical conference:  Afro-Cuban Jazz & Beyond.  It’s a rare opportunity to meet legendary jazz drummer Ignacio Berroa.  At 6:45 a.m. he joins us at the red table, along with Halifax musician and event organizer Chris Mitchell.

Suspended Conservative Senator Mike Duffy’s trial starts on Tuesday. Duffy faces 31 criminal charges including bribery, breach of trust and fraud. Dan Leger worked alongside Duffy in Ottawa and has recently written a book about him called Duffy: Stardom to Senate to Scandal. Leger will join us at 7:15 a.m. to look back at how we got here and how far the scandal could reach.

Death isn’t something many of us talk about openly but a Halifax resident wants that to change. Deborah Luscomb recently launched Halifax’s first Death Café, she’ll be on the show at 7:45 a.m. to tell us all about it.

Beer lovers, rejoice! Next month, Nova Scotia will celebrate its first-ever Craft Beer Week. Many events are planned and some are already sold out! We’ll talk to an organizer and a member of the province’s Craft Brewers Association all about it at 8:15 a.m. during our Foodie Tuesday segment.

And we check in with a young jazz duo as they get ready to take the stage at the Tantallon Public library Tuesday night to celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month. At 8:45 a.m. Saxophonist Andrew MacKelvie and Dancer Kathleen Doherty tell us about their improv jazz performance and how they read each other to know where to go next.
