Eastern Quebec and the Atlantic provinces are bracing for another in what has been a seemingly endless series of winter storms.

Environment Canada has issued storm warnings for New Brunswick’s Acadian Peninsula as well as Quebec’s Gaspe Peninsula and Gulf of St. Lawrence region.

Forecasters say a low pressure system that swept up the American east coast will dump 15 to 30-centimetres of snow over those areas by tonight.

They say the snow will be whipped by high winds that will cut visibility to near zero in places.

The same storm is expected to bring winds of up to 100-kilometres to parts of coastal Newfoundland.

And a rainfall warning is in effect for the Halifax area, where forecasters say up to 40-millimetres of rain could cause flooding in low-lying areas.
