WINNIPEG — Beethoven’s Ode to Joy was heard at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights at a surprise performance Wednesday night.
“For a long time since I’m here I’ve wanted to do a flash mob. It never worked out so far up until somewhat today,” Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra conductor Alexander Mickelthwate, organizer of the event said.
The Symphony only released that there would be a “surprise” at 7 p.m. at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.
“Two weeks ago this opportunity opened up and we had services free of the musicians and said BANG, let’s try it,” Mickelthwate said of the performance. The conductor said since construction of the museum began he wanted to collaborate. The performance took place in the Garden of Contemplation.
