TORONTO – York University students will be back in class by March 23, after the school’s senate approved a motion to resume classes despite the ongoing strike.
Classes in the School of the Arts, Media, Performance and Design, Faculty of Education, Glendon, Faculty of Health, and Faculty of Science will resume on Tuesday.
Classes in the Faculty of Environmental Studies and classes in the Faculty of Liberal Arts that haven’t already resumed will resume on March 23.
Teaching Assistants have been on strike since March 3. Two units of CUPE 3903, the union which represents teaching assistants at the university, recently rejected an offer from the university.
Rhonda Lenton, a vice-president at the university, said in a statement Monday that the administration remains “committed to reaching a fair and competitive settlement” with the union.
