B.C. terror suspect wanted to inspire others: trial

WATCH: Today the courtroom saw footage of the pressure cooker bombs and the video the couple filmed hoping it would be released after the alleged attack. Rumina Daya reports.

VANCOUVER – A B.C. man accused of plotting to bomb the provincial legislature on Canada Day recorded a video just days before the alleged planned attack saying he wanted to inspire others to follow in his shoes.

John Nuttall and his wife Amanda Korody are on trial on multiple terrorism-related charges.

Surveillance footage played in court shows the couple preparing a video message, which they intended to be released after the attack.

In the video, which was recorded in late June 2013, the pair is seen in a motel near Vancouver speaking to a camera with an Arabic flag pinned behind them on the wall.

In the video, Nuttall says Canada has declared war on Islam and that Muslims must fight back whatever the cost.

Both Nuttall and Korody have pleaded not guilty.
