Canucks complete comeback, defeat Sharks 3-2

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Radim Vrbata scored his second goal of the game to break a tie in the third period and made an alert defensive play to preserve the lead and help the Vancouver Canucks complete the rally from a two-goal deficit to beat the San Jose Sharks 3-2 Saturday night.

Vrbata started the comeback with a goal in the final minute of the first period and then gave Vancouver its first lead when he scored on the power play early in the third. Bo Horvat also scored and Eddie Lack made 38 saves for the Canucks, who avoided their first three-game losing streak since early January.

Melker Karlsson and Joe Thornton scored for the Sharks, who were dealt another blow in their bid for an 11th straight playoff berth. Antti Niemi made 31 saves.

The win moves the Canucks to 37-24-4 on the year, second in the Pacific Division. San Jose is now 32-27-8 on the year, fifth in the division.
