TORONTO – Power has been restored to nearly 1,000 Toronto Hydro customers in Scarborough following an outage early Monday morning.

The issue was reported just before 4 a.m. in the area bordering Highway 401 to the north, McCowan Road to the east, Lawrence Avenue to the south and Birchmount Road to the west.

Toronto Traffic Services say the eastbound lanes of Progress Avenue have reopened after downed power lines were cleared.

The westbound lanes remain closed.

Early indication suggests a pole fire near Midland Avenue and Progress Avenue may have been the cause of the outage.
