Lethbridge businesses urged to use caution amid recent armed robberies

LETHBRIDGE – Police are warning local businesses to be vigilant in light of several armed robberies.

Most recently, a masked man with a gun entered a Husky gas station in the 700 block of 13th Street North around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday and demanded cash. The suspect left the store when no money was provided.

About half an hour later, police were called to a second robbery at a Subway in the 1600 block of Mayor Magrath Drive South after a masked male armed with a gun entered the store and demanded cash. An undisclosed amount of cash was provided to the subject, who then left the store.

In both cases, no one was injured.

The subject in both cases is described as a male in his mid-20s, approximately 5’8” to 5’10” tall, with a medium build and brown hair, wearing a grey hoodie, black mask covering his face, black gloves, black pants and black shoes.

Police say it’s unknown if the robberies are connected to two armed robberies at businesses on Monday night.

The Lethbridge Regional Police Service is warning business owners and employees not to put themselves at risk in the event of a robbery.

“No amount of money or property is worth your life,” said a news release issued on Thursday. “Comply with demands and focus on being the best witness possible.”
