Many reacted with outrage after the girl told a local newspaper she felt violated by last week’s search after school officials suspected her of selling drugs.

Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard said that unless extreme circumstances were at play, there was “no question” strip searches should not be allowed in Quebec schools.

Bernier said he has not officially filed any documents in court and is still evaluating the damage done to his client.

In a statement, the high school’s principal, Nadine Genest, denied reports that the girl was not permitted call her parents before the search.

She confirmed the girl has been suspended and will be transferred to another school.
