Kelowna woman attacked in early morning assault

KELOWNA — Police are asking for the public’s help finding who assaulted a 21-year-old woman in Kelowna early Saturday morning. Police say she was walking alone on Harvey Avenue near Burtch Road.

“[The] Kelowna woman was walking eastbound on Harvey Avenue when an unknown man approached her from behind, placed his arm around her neck and lifted her off her feet,” says Kelowna RCMP Constable Kris Clark. “The young woman fought and screamed, which ultimately resulted in the man releasing her and fleeing the scene on foot on Chandler Street. The woman suffered minor physical injuries but did not require medical attention.”

RCMP describe the suspect as:

  • Caucasian male
  • 25-30 yrs
  • 5 ft 10 in to 6 ft (178 – 183 cm)
  • 240 lb (109 kg)
  • Clean shaven
  • Short sandy hair
  • Wearing a nylon over his face, a black hat, dark clothes and jeans
