HALIFAX – There will be more street closures tonight in Halifax as crews continue efforts to clear snow clogging city streets.
Roughly 865 dump truck loads of snow have been removed over the last two nights.
Crews are focusing their efforts on removing snow from cul-de-sacs, pushing back and removing snow banks and widening intersections and turning lanes across the Halifax region. Crews are also hauling snow away from blocked bus stops.
Tonight crews will focus on the following streets:
· Grafton Street
· Market Street
· Sackville Street between Brunswick and Lower Water streets
· Barrington Street between Spring Garden Road and Morris Street
· Gottingen Street between Uniacke Street and Rainnie Drive
· Queen Street in Dartmouth, between Alderney Drive and Dundas Street
· Ochterloney Street
· Bedford Highway from Union Street to Hammonds Plains Road
If they have enough time, crews will also remove snow from Quinpool Road, Granville Street and Bedford Row. Other crews will remove snow piles causing visibility issues in the Fairview, Clayton Park and Spryfield areas.
The city says residents must remove their cars from affected streets before 9 pm, which is when clearing is set to begin. It’s expected to continue until 6 am. Vehicles that are not moved could be ticketed or towed.
