RCMP want Canadian kids to help name 10 new pups

CALGARY – RCMP are once again looking across the country for help naming some furry and four-legged recruits who will serve with Canada’s national police force.

Police are asking children to submit names for ten German Shepherd puppies. Five were born five days ago, and five will arrive soon at the Police Dog Service Training Centre in Innisfail, Alberta.

Kids are encouraged to be original and imaginative in finding names, but remember the names are for working dogs, not pets.

Each submission must start with the letter ‘H’ and have no more than nine letters.

Names can be for males or females, but can only be one or two syllables.

The ten children whose names are selected will each receive a laminated 8×10-inch photo of the pup they named, as well as a plush dog and an RCMP cap.
