TORONTO – Heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures made for a treacherous commute Monday morning across the Greater Toronto Area. Hundreds of Ontario residents took to Twitter to warn others about road conditions and share images of their snowy morning view.

Much of southern Ontario remains under a winter storm warning with snowfall totals of up to 35 cm expected in some areas.
Environment Canada warned of hazardous driving conditions throughout Monday, as heavy snow mixed with strong, gusty winds reduced visibilities to under 500 metres on many highways due to blowing snow.
#SnowDay was trending on Twitter nationally as school boards across the GTA cancelled classes and busses for students. Many post-secondary schools, including Toronto’s Humber College and Hamilton’s McMaster University, also cancelled classes due to the storm.

As of 8 am ET, CAA had reported receiving over 680 calls for service – the majority of which were requesting tows.
Those who did brave the inclement road conditions took to Twitter to voice their frustrations and concerns about their commute.
Others took a more light-hearted approach.
