UPDATE: Stolen vehicle crashes into two buildings on Pembina Highway

WINNIPEG – Police are continuing to investigate a Friday night crash that caused two buildings to be evacuated.

Officers responded to the 2900 block of Pembina Highway just after 8:00 p.m. after reports of a vehicle hitting a building and damaging a gas line.

The police investigation revealed that a stolen Subaru Outback with three occupants was speeding and drove into a building, hitting a gas line and causing a leak. The three suspects were seen fleeing the area in another vehicle.

The entire Four Points Sheraton Hotel and the strip mall beside it were evacuated. Hotel guests were allowed to go back in shortly after but the strip mall remained evacuated until later in the evening. Gas was turned off and hydro crews were on scene as the gas line was secured.

Damage is estimated at approximately $40,000.00.
