Two people killed in crash near Hamilton airport

TORONTO – Two people are dead and two others injured after a major collision near Hamilton’s John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport.

OPP officers say an SUV travelling southbound on Highway 6 collided head-on with a car which burst into flames shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday.

At least three vehicles were involved in the crash.

An 18-year-old man and a 53-year-old man, both from Caledonia, died during the accident. They have not been identified.

Two men in the third car were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The cause of the collision is unknown at this time.

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says there was blowing snow in the area.

Highway 6 between Chippewa Road and Haldibrook Rd. in Glanbrook Township, will be closed for several hours.
