Ice and slush lead to multiple weekend injuries, car accidents

REGINA – Ice and slush on roads and sidewalks led to a number of injuries and car accidents over the weekend.

Pasqua Hospital and Regina General Hospital received about 20 patients each for injuries including one fractured hip, sprains and strains, and broken ankles, wrists, and elbows due to slips and falls on ice. Two people suffered serious head injuries.

According to RQHR, two other people suffered serious injuries due to car accidents.

Between Saturday and 6 a.m. on Monday, police say they responded to eight collisions resulting in injuries.

Officers were dispatched to 14 other collisions that resulted in property damage.

The city was under a freezing rain warning on Saturday.
