In Manitoba, most bed bug complaints come from downtown Winnipeg, in particular the Spence neighbourhood.
To come up with this story, Global News combined two sets of data obtained through Freedom of Information legislation: one from the City of Winnipeg that provided partial address and neighbourhood locations for bed bug complaints, and one from Manitoba Health, which provided the number of bed bug complaints per forward-sortation-area (FSA) across the province.
It was necessary to combine these two data sets to get a complete picture of Winnipeg, because complaints from Winnipeg’s suburbs are handled by the province.
The two data sets, of bed bug complaints in 2010, are below. Note that complaints are not necessarily confirmations of an infestation at a given location.
