Restaurants in B.C. closed or issued warnings in 2014 for health violations

VANCOUVER – With the beginning of a new year comes the list of restaurants that were closed or issued warnings the previous year for various health violations.

The health authorities around the province release the information on their websites.

In the Fraser Health region, a number of establishments were closed for one to two days for not storing food correctly or for not maintaining sanitary conditions.

Forcing to close due to pests was also a common theme in many cities in the region. Twenty -five restaurants had to close for a certain number of days due to a pest issue, including Mrs Vanelli’s Restaurant in Metrotown, Burnaby, the Temple Restaurant in Langley, Domino’s Pizza on 120th Street in Surrey and White Spot on 152nd Street in Surrey.

On Vancouver Island, many of the inspection reports deal with food storage and improper cleaning methods. On their next inspection, there were no violations however.

The Bengal Lounge in the Fairmont Empress Hotel in Victoria was given three non-critical violations in September for unprotected food and improper sanitary facilities.
