Roads closed after car hits fire hydrant in west-end Toronto

TORONTO – Police warned motorists to avoid the intersection of Weston Road and Rogers Road in west-end Toronto after a car hit a fire hydrant early Thursday morning.

The crash caused water to spill onto the street with ice developing as a result of the frigid temperatures.

City crews managed to cap the water flow just after 9 a.m., nearly two hours after the incident.

Police are telling motorist to expect delays while crews make sure the area is safe for vehicles.
