VERNON – Police say 21 people are facing drug trafficking charges in Vernon after a four day undercover operation in November when cocaine and methamphetamine were purchased.

Vernon RCMP say after identifying a drug trafficking group with ties to Metro Vancouver, they joined forces with Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) teams out of the Lower Mainland to investigate group members for drug trafficking and firearms offences.

Search warrants were executed by the South East District Emergency Response Team at two units of a 24th Avenue four-plex where a variety of drugs, weapons and cash were seized.

A second search at a Vernon hotel turned up a loaded .25 calibre handgun, other weapons and money.

Police have named Andres Naranjo and Daniel Penton, both 21, as two of the charged people.

“The combined efforts of Vernon Detachment, CFSEU and ERT has resulted in a very successful investigation of a potentially dangerous drug trafficking group,” says Sgt. David Evans.
