WATCH: The Monday, January 5, 2015 weather forecast for Toronto, Ontario and the surrounding area.
TORONTO – Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the City of Toronto due to an Arctic air system pushing its way through the region this week.
The airmass is expected to plunge the minimum temperatures to minus 20 or below on the coldest day.
The weather office says extreme cold warnings will likely be required at times during the week due to the combination of cold temperatures and brisk winds.

Snow squalls warnings and watches are also in effect for parts of the Greater Toronto Area and in southwestern Ontario.
York and Durham region are currently under a snow squall warning and watch.
Provincial police are advising drivers to take caution while air travellers are advised to check their flight status ahead of time.
