Dog stolen in Richmond car theft returned to owners

Police are searching for a missing Pomeranian named Eclair.

A dog stolen during a carjacking yesterday has been safely returned.

Eclair, a Pomeranian that was in a car stolen from a Richmond parking lot Friday night, was returned to her relieved owners by RCMP this afternoon.

“Apparently the person holding her felt a lot of pressure from all the notices we had out for her,” said Greg Altungy, who recently moved back to the Lower Mainland from the U.S.

According to Acting Cpl. Dennis Hwang, a 2010 Hyundai Genesis was taken from Lansdowne Centre with Eclair inside. The vehicle was recovered at around 1 a.m. outside the Canadian Tire on No. 3 Road, but Eclair was gone.

“When they found the car, I was told that everything was taken,” said Altungy before Eclair was found. “All the personal things I don’t care about. We lost thousands of dollars worth of things. We just want our dog back. What kind of person takes someone’s dog?”
