WATCH: The Donnelly Group held their second annual “Orphan Christmas” today. Asa Rehman reports.

Year in and year out, Christmas brings out the charity in just about everyone. A few notable events from around Metro Vancouver today:

  • White Spot delivered their annual Christmas Day Luncheon for the Richmond Hospital Foundation and Variety. Volunteers served classic meals at two locations, raising a record $17,624.
  • The Donnelly Group organized their second annual ‘Orphan Christmas”, distributing 1,000 meals to people throughout downtown Vancouver.

“We discovered a lot of our staff who are out of town, ended up spending a lonely Christmas day at home, watching Home Alone,” said Damon Holowchak of Donnelly Group Marketing.

“We figured this would be an idea to give back now only to them, but also our community at the same time.”

  • Over 100 volunteers put on the annual Salvation Army dinner, which served close to 2,000 people tonight.

“Lots of us have so much, that it’s really giving a gift to come down and serve and smile at someone and wish them a Merry Christmas,” says Maj. Judy Regamey of the Salvation Army Harbour Light.
