WATCH: Caught on camera: Bear vs. Santa

A California wildlife photographer got a chuckle (or a “ho ho ho”) when he reviewed his trail footage this week.

Robert Martinez had set up a trail camera in Big Dalton Canyon in Glendora, California and to add to the festive season, he also propped up a Santa Claus doll in hopes to see a mountain lion interact with it.

To his surprise, a black bear came around and curiously prodded at the doll.

In the video, the bear sniffs the doll, perhaps making sure it’s nothing harmful.

It gently chews on Santa’s hat.

Then out of nowhere, the bear knocks out Santa with its paw, possibly offended by the man in red’s lack of presents.

Martinez tells KTLA, “I haven’t seen any bears on my cameras for a few months, so I was pleasantly surprised and happy that he knocked out Santa right in front of the camera.”
