MONTREAL – A holiday miracle came early for an NDG family, devastated after their adapted van was stolen on Monday.
An anonymous caller tipped off police Tuesday afternoon and the 1993 Dodge Caravan was located in Ville-St-Pierre in the parking lot of a recycling plant at the corner of Rue St-Pierre and Notre-dame.
Even though the ignition is broken, the van is mostly intact.
Eight-year-old Fernando Ruiz and his father were just thrilled to get it back.
Overnight, Montrealers rallied to help the family and even started a crowdfunding campaign to help get them a new van.
It raised over $2,000 so far.
Fernando’s former camp councillor, Katie Rochford started the fundraiser and told Global News the donated money will go towards helping the family repair the van.
