VANCOUVER – About 120 residents, many of them elderly and with mobility issues, are now able to return home more than a week after they were forced to evacuate due to an electrical fire.
Almost all the power was off in the 15-storey highrise on Princess Street in New Westminster. One resident tells Global News that they may have to evacuate again if the power crashes under the full load of everyone using their appliances at the same time. He says they will keep a packed suitcase by the door if they need to leave quickly again.
