NEAR KELOWNA– A two vehicle collision on Highway 33, east of Kelowna late Monday afternoon sent one man to hospital and forced the closure of the road for almost two hours.
Emergency crews were called to Goudie Road, south of Mission Creek Bridge about 4:30 pm.
RCMP say a car travelling towards Kelowna suddenly veered into the path of an oncoming pick up truck.
The impact of the crash demolished both vehicles sending the pick up sliding off of the road the smaller vehicle was spun around.
The driver of that car, a male, believed to be about 20 years of age was trapped and had to be rescued by fire fighters.
He was taken to hospital for treatment of what appeared to be serious but non life threatening injuries.
The driver of the pick up truck was not injured.
Police say the car appeared to be heading back from the ski hill.
Alcohol has been ruled out as a factor and the road itself appeared dry.
RCMP are taking this opportunity to remind motorists that even if road surfaces appear to be clear and dry, drivers must keep their wits about them and pay attention to the road.
The police investigation continues, no word yet on any charges.
