Woman killed in 3-vehicle crash in central Alberta

EDMONTON – A 56-year-old woman was killed in a three-vehicle collision in central Alberta at around 7 p.m. Tuesday. The crash happened on Highway 2A and Township Road 454, which is about five kilometres south of Wetaskiwin.

RCMP believe the woman was driving south on the highway, when her car was rear-ended by another car and pushed into the path of a northbound truck. The 56-year-old woman was killed; no one else was seriously injured.

First responders from several agencies helped out at the scene, including traffic Sheriffs and RCMP, EMS and firefighters from the nearby Maskwacis First Nation.

Police said the crash continues to be investigated, however alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
