HALIFAX – Motorists are asked to drive with caution after a brief snow squall Wednesday morning left roads and highways slippery.

As of 8:30 a.m., Halifax Regional Police were at the scene of 20 snow-related accidents.

Police said black ice seems to be forming as a result of the brief snowfall and the 100-series highways are reported to be extremely slippery.

Motorists are urged to leave enough room between vehicles and to brake earlier when approaching intersections.

The municipality said crews started salting the roads at midnight.
