TORONTO – Facebook may be working on a social network geared toward professionals who would rather boast about credentials than share vacation photos.

According to a report by the Financial Times, “Facebook at Work” would look similar to the social network’s existing platform, but would allow users to post resumes, build professional networks and share documents.

Users would be able to create an account under their current Facebook profile, but keep their work-related profile separate so party photos and personal status updates are kept private.

Facebook declined to comment on the report.

The move would put Facebook in direct competition with LinkedIn – the most popular business oriented social network. LinkedIn currently boasts about 300 million users – Facebook has over one billion.

The report also noted that “Facebook at Work” would allow users to share and collaborate on documents, which would put the service in competition with Google Drive and Microsoft Office.
