SASKATOON – Regina’s Dr. Martin LeBoldus Golden Suns defeated Saskatoon’s Holy Cross Crusaders 53-43 to capture the 4A provincial high school championship.

The two schools squared off in their third consecutive provincial final Saturday and are considered among the top football programs in Saskatchewan.

Players had to contend with a wind chill of minus 20 degrees during the afternoon contest at Saskatoon Minor Football Field, which was another chapter in the rivalry between the two teams.

The Crusaders came out determined to snap a losing streak; having lost two straight championship games to the Golden Suns.

They scored the first two touchdowns of the game, however LeBoldus came back and defeated the Crusaders.
