Women make bobsled history, drive against men in international race in Utah

PARK CITY, Utah – Olympic champion Kaillie Humphries of Canada was sixth and Olympic silver medallist Elana Meyers Taylor of the U.S. was seventh Saturday, when they became the first women to drive against men in an international four-man bobsled competition.

Nick Cunningham of the U.S. drove to the win in the North American Cup race, ahead of 2010 Olympic champion and fellow American Steven Holcomb.

The North American Cup is a level below the World Cup circuit, which opens next month.

Humphries and Meyers Taylor also plan to compete in races in Canada and France in the coming weeks, so they can satisfy eligibility requirements to race on the World Cup tour.
