TORONTO – A video of a grieving father singing to his dying child just days after his wife died in her sleep has captured the hearts of many.
In the video, Chris Picco sings a cover of The Beatles song “Blackbird” while his son lies in an incubator at Loma Linda University Hospital in California.
Lennon was delivered by emergency C-section at 24 weeks shortly after his mother passed away.
A memorial fund was set up in memory of Picco’s wife Ashley.
“Ashley would often feel Lennon moving to music so I brought my guitar today and gave him a little concert,” Chris wrote on the memorial page.
Sadly, Lennon passed away just hours after Chris sang to him.
“Dear friends, family, and supporters; it is with an unbelievably heavy heart that I write this. My little fighter, Lennon James Picco went to sleep in his daddy’s arms late last night,” Chris wrote on the memorial page. “He was surrounded by family, friends, and the best doctors, nurses and hospital staff in the world…
All you need is love.”
