EDMONTON — While many people cringe at the very thought of winter’s arrival, the recent dump of snow in the Capital Region is welcome news to ski bums.
Snow Valley Ski Hill, Rabbit Hill Snow Resort, Sunridge Ski Area and the Edmonton Ski Club will be open this weekend.
Snow Valley will be open for the season at 9 a.m. Saturday.
The hill’s operations department has been hard at work since Friday night, pumping more than 18 million litres of water through 12 machines to make enough snow to open a week ahead of schedule.
The hill will open until 5 p.m. Saturday night. For more information on the hill’s hours, visit Snow Valley’s website.
Rabbit Hill will have the bunny hill and a temp park set up this weekend. The hill will be open Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The hill will be closed from Nov. 17 – Nov. 20 for snow-making operations and reopen Friday, Nov. 21.
Sunridge will have four lifts and five runs open 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
The Edmonton Ski Club will have its T-Bar open this Saturday at 10 a.m. Ski terrain and lift availability will be limited, though, so the club is offering a discount on lift tickets and equipment rentals.
The club says it will be in full operation by Saturday, Nov. 22.
This is the earliest opening for the Edmonton Ski Club in its 103-year history.
