Canada’s fallen honoured in Toronto-Hamilton area ceremonies

TORONTO – Ontario marked Remembrance Day today with a number of ceremonies in the Greater Toronto-Hamilton area.

Premier Kathleen Wynne were among those honouring veterans at a service at the Veterans’ Memorial at Queen’s Park.

City leaders in Toronto had their own service at the cenotaph at the Old City Hall building downtown – though Mayor Rob Ford did not attend due to his battle with cancer.

Veterans Affairs also organized a remembrance ceremony in the city’s east end.

Meanwhile, a Royal Canadian Air Force DC-3 from the Second World War flew overhead during a ceremony at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton.

And Princess Anne joined Prime Minister Stephen Harper for a ceremony at the National War Memorial in Ottawa.
