KELOWNA — Kelowna’s firefighters are getting political.
They announced Tuesday that they’re supporting Sharon Shepherd for mayor.
“The Kelowna Professional Firefighters Association would like to announce that we are supporting Sharon Shepherd for Mayor,” says Dennis Miller, President of the Kelowna Professional Firefighters Association.
He says one of the main reasons why the firefighters are supporting Shepherd is because of her track record when dealing with public safety.
“When it comes to public safety we believe all areas of the city should have the same level of service. We worked with Sharon when she was a councillor and our mayor to improve public safety. We believe Sharon is the best candidate to continue improving public safety now and into the future,” says Miller.
Miller adds that Shepherd’s experience is also key to their support.
“Sharon’s nine years as a Kelowna councillor, six years as mayor and fifteen years as a Central Okanagan Regional District Director prove that she has the experience which is needed to lead our great city.”
