WINNIPEG – Flowers were personally delivered to patients at St. Boniface hospital Sunday thanks to the annual Radiothon of Hope and Healing.
A day-long broadcast with CJOB helped raise donations and tell the stories of past and current patients at the hospital.
“It helps us so we should help it and that’s why we are here today,” said Larry Vickar of Vickar Automotive Group, which presented the event.
Winnipeggers called in to share their stories of staying at the hospital and the experiences of friends and family members who have received care at the facility. New research was also discussed during the day with scientists.
For every $10 donation, roses were sent to patients and staff at the hospital.
In total, $125,100 was raised. All of the money will help support the costs of new research and equipment at St. Boniface hospital.
“It’s a way for us to enhance the funding we get from government,” said Chuck LaFlèche, President and CEO at St.Boniface Hospital. “It’s important because it allows us to take care from great care to excellent care.”
