Duvie & Clark headed to Deutschland Cup

WINNIPEG – Hockey Canada unveiled the roster that will compete at the upcoming Deutschland Cup and it is loaded with Winnipeg flavour. Winnipeg’s Duvie Westcott and Kevin Clark will dawn the red and white for the three-day tournament in Germany. Canada’s roster also features two former Winnipeg Jets in goalies Chris Mason and defenseman Brett Festerling.

The Manitoba connections don’t end there with Winnipeg’s Jeff Tomlinson, the head coach, while Jets assistant general manager and director of hockey operations Craig Heisinger was apart of the management team that selected the squad.

Westcott played parts of six seasons in the NHL with the Columbus Blue Jackets but the now 36-year-old hasn’t appeared in an NHL game since the 2007-2008 season. Since leaving the Blue Jackets Westcott has played in the KHL, and in professional leagues in Switzerland and Germany. He’s currently in his third season with the Hamburg Freezers of the DEL.

Clark had a tryout with the Jets in the 2011-2012 season and after playing two seasons with the St. John’s Icecaps of the American Hockey League Clark is now playing professionally in Germany.
